The Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) is a UK based educational charity and was founded in 1969 to provide high quality education and training in wines and spirits for those already in or intending to join the trade, and enthusiastic consumers throughout the world.

In 2008, The Wine Center of Puerto Rico was the first Puerto Rican organization to become affiliated with the prestigious Wine & Spirit Education Trust® (WSET®), and offer its courses. The WSET® trains members of the wine and spirits trade internationally; its highest accreditation, Diploma, is the traditional qualification necessary for those who wish to become Master of Wine candidates. The WSET® courses are offered in 41 countries and teaches over 21,000 students per year.

Since its beginning, the WSET has grown into the foremost international body in the field of wines and spirits education, with a suite of sought-after qualifications; it works closely with the drinks industry, educational partners world-wide and the relevant regulatory authorities.

El Wine & Spirit Education Trust® [WSET], cuenta con más de 39 años de experiencia diseñando e impartiendo programas educativos y títulos en el sector del vino y licores. Es el principal proveedor educativo del sector, con más de 21,000 candidatos que se examinan cada año en 41 países.

En el año 2008 esta prestigiosa organización académica, seleccionó y nombró a The Wine Center of Puerto Rico, como “Approved Programme Provider” [APP], lo que los capacita para impartir los cursos y certificar a aquellos candidatos que aspiren ser grandes conocedores de la materia, así como alcanzar certificaciones conducentes a grados tales como “Master  of Wine” o “Master of Sommelier”.

Los cursos y títulos ofrecidos por  The Wine Center of Puerto Rico abarcan varios  niveles diferentes de conocimientos, desde el principiante básico hasta el experto.  Sus programas de certificación cubren todas las áreas del conocimiento del vino y licores, así como de la técnica de cata, adaptándolas a las necesidades de quienes las necesiten para el desarrollo de su trabajo, o para las personas que sólo interesen un conocimiento general.

The Wine Center of Puerto Rico es la sede en Puerto Rico para obtener los cursos y certificaciones de la WSET, y su grupo estudiantil está compuesto de profesionales de la industria hospitalaria/hotelera, industria del vino [wine trade industry], así como distribuidores, consumidores y aficionados.
